The EPISAM Research Group (Psychiatric Epidemiology and Mental Health Research) at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) is seeking highly qualified researchers to apply for the 2026 César Nombela Talent Attraction Programme funded by the Regional Government of Madrid.
Candidate profile
We are seeking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher with an outstanding scientific track record and proven leadership skills to join a multidisciplinary team. EPISAM’s research interests focus on epidemiological study of mental disorders during critical developmental stages, identification of factors associated with psychiatric pathologies across the lifespan, and the analysis of suicidal behavior. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to lead independent lines of research and actively collaborate in securing funding through competitive grant calls.
Eligibility requirements
- Hold a PhD degree obtained between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2023.
- Demonstrate at least two years of paid research experience at foreign research institutions within the last five years.
Desirable qualifications
- A competitive research record in mental health, psychiatry, clinical psychology, epidemiology, public health, or related fields, including publications in high-impact journals and participation in national and international research projects.
- Research experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Data Science, or Digital Health will be particularly valued.
- Demonstrated potential to lead independent research programmes and secure competitive funding.
- Experience participating in international research networks and collaborations.
What we offer
- A five-year postdoctoral research contract.
- Minimum gross annual salary of €45,000 during the first three years, increasing to €50,000 during the final two years.
- Opportunity to undertake complementary teaching activities, up to a maximum of 100 hours per year.
